Three Paintings by Kateryna Tkachenko

Motanka

From Kateryna: I'm Ukrainian and right now my home country is under Russian military attack. Ukrainians are a peaceful people who love their history and culture, but right now they have to protect their land. In my painting is a national doll, "motanka.” This kind of doll doesn't show a face because of the idea that a face is too personal. For me this image symbolizes Ukraine, which has been in a long confrontation with Putin.

Hope for Ukraine

My home country is now under attack by Russian troops. Spring is coming and I want to believe that once all the horror of war will be in the past, new blossom trees will bloom in a burned land.
