2020 Salon Series

We kicked off our second year of hosting salons that celebrate artists and activists in our community in February with The Deathful Salon, all about—you guessed it—death! Shortly after, COVID-19 changed the world and we canceled the rest of our 2020 indoors and in-person programming. We promise we’ll be back to bring you more thought-provoking salons as soon as it’s safe to do so.

We held what turned out to be our only salon of 2020 at the New Rhythm Arts Center on Saturday, February 29. Horror writer Cynthia Pelayo gave a talk about popular culture’s obsession with true crime, Khloe Janel read poems about watching her mother grieve, Ed Gogol discussed the need for medical aid in dying, and Connie Toebe showed paintings of extinct species. Please enjoy some pictures from the night, and we hope to do it again soon!

Somehow we missed getting a picture of Khloe Janel at the salon (!), so here is the awesome promotional picture of them that we used for the event.
